Most people are told that scar tissue is just something they have to live with. Or that the only way to address it is surgically. Neither is true. At Pelvicore Rehab & Wellness, we specialize in non-surgical scar tissue removal and release — using hands-on manual therapy and advanced neurostimulation technology to break down adhesions, restore mobility, and reduce pain. Whether your scar is from a recent surgery or years ago, treatment can make a meaningful difference.
Our nervous system is comprised of 2 parts, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system:
Every cell in our body is controlled by our nervous system. Cells in our body normally communicate and travel freely throughout our body in order to maintain balance.
Scars disrupt biocellular communication, causing the sympathetic nervous system to become more dominant or unregulated and leads to a reversal of the normal bio electrical state of our tissue. This inhibits healing as healing occurs in the parasympathetic state.
Scars may develop as a result of many conditions (surgery, injury, stitches, fractures, keloids, childbirth, episiotomy, or infections). These scars should be treated to maintain tissue mobility, prevent adhesion, and to optimize healing.
If untreated, scars lead to nervous system imbalance, tissue tension, a limited range of motion, internal adhesions, and disrupt circulation. Furthermore, leading to dysfunction and pain throughout the body.
At Pelvicore Rehab & Wellness, we use Manual Therapy Techniques and the Dolphin Neurostim system (a low amplitude DC microcurrent) that restores the polarity of scar tissue and improves bio cellular communication.
Scar release therapy promotes a balanced nervous system, release of fascial restrictions and internal adhesions and improves circulation.
Resolving these restrictions can improve range of motion, circulation, decrease pain, and improve overall function. All Scar Tissue needs to be released!
"After my hysterotomy, I was uncomfortable sitting and internal scar tissue limited my ability to have sex with my partner. After therapy at Pelvicore Rehab, I am now able to enjoy sitting and my spouse and I have a wonderful sex life again." Judy, age 48
"After having an emergency C section, I was still experiencing pain around the incision site 5 months later. The therapists at Pelvicore Rehab helped me regain a active lifestyle without pain." Tamara, age 27
"I have had an issue for decades from scar tissue resulting from an appendectomy as a child. I have tried alternative treatments but have found that Susan and Jamie have been working hard to address this long-standing problem. They tag-team as necessary and both are caring and helpful. Definitely worth seeing them if you have any pelvic pain." Trevor H.
MEET YOUR SCAR TISSUE REMOVAL SPECIALIST
Susan Winograd, MSPT has been treating pelvic floor dysfunction in men and women for nearly 30 years. She founded Pelvicore Rehab & Wellness with a single focus: getting to the root cause of symptoms that other providers have dismissed, misdiagnosed, or failed to resolve.
Susan specializes in the kind of cases that arrive at her door after years of dead ends — chronic pelvic pain, post-surgical recovery, bladder and bowel dysfunction, and sexual health issues that most men have never been able to talk openly about with a provider. She's been featured in Peloton, Fit + Well, and numerous health podcasts for her whole-body, non-surgical approach to pelvic health.
Her approach is thorough, judgment-free, and built around one question: what is your body actually telling us?

Yes. While surgical removal is one option, non-surgical scar tissue release through manual therapy and neurostimulation is highly effective and avoids the risk of creating new scar tissue in the process. At Pelvicore, we use a combination of hands-on techniques and the Dolphin Neurostim system to break down adhesions and restore normal tissue function.
Older scars can absolutely respond to treatment — many of our patients come to us years or even decades after their original surgery or injury. Newer scars (treated after the initial healing phase) tend to respond faster, but age alone is not a barrier to improvement.
Most patients find treatment comfortable. You may feel pressure or a mild aching sensation during manual work, particularly if adhesions are significant. The Dolphin Neurostim is painless. Your therapist will always work within your comfort level and explain each step before beginning.
Yes. Internal adhesions — including those from pelvic, abdominal, or post-prostate surgery — are one of our specialties. Internal scar tissue is often the hidden cause of symptoms like bladder dysfunction, painful intercourse, and chronic pelvic pain that don't respond to other treatments.
