Fiber Is Pelvic Floor Care
Straining on the toilet is one of the most common — and most overlooked — stressors on the pelvic floor. Hard stool means more pushing, more downward pressure, and more of the exact load pattern we spend your sessions teaching you to avoid. Soft, formed, easy-to-pass stool is one of the simplest ways to protect the progress you’re making in therapy.
That’s where fiber comes in. Psyllium husk is a soluble fiber that absorbs water and forms a gel in the digestive tract, which softens hard stool and adds form to loose stool — it helps in both directions. It’s also one of the most-studied fibers available, which is why it’s usually our first suggestion when bowel habits are working against pelvic floor recovery.
Recommended Brand: Lusy Psyllium Husk Fiber
We tried Lusy ourselves before recommending it. It mixes cleanly, the Strawberry Lemonade flavor is pleasant enough to actually keep up with daily, and one 13.7 oz container covers about 60 servings. The label claim is simple and honest: supports regularity and overall digestive health.
A note on starting: begin with a smaller serving, take it with a full glass of water, and increase gradually over a week or two. Ramping up too fast is the #1 reason people quit fiber. If you have a history of bowel obstruction, difficulty swallowing, or you’re on medications that need careful timing, check with your provider first.
