You shouldn't have to plan your day around a bathroom.

Urgency, frequency, leaking, and incomplete emptying are among the most treatable conditions we see. Most patients experience significant improvement within just a few sessions — without medication or surgery.

Most people assume bladder issues start and end with the bladder. But at Pelvicore Rehab & Wellness, we take a whole-body approach to pelvic health — because lasting results require treating what’s actually driving the problem, not just managing the symptoms. In this video, Susan Winograd, MSPT, breaks down three surprising factors that may be contributing to your bladder issues that most providers never look at.

Factor 1 — Your Liver

Liver dysfunction can contribute to bladder dysfunction in ways that aren’t immediately obvious. The liver plays a central role in hormone metabolism — when it’s overburdened, it processes estrogen and other hormones less efficiently, which can directly affect bladder tissue, urgency, and control. If you’ve been working on your pelvic floor but not seeing the results you expect, the liver connection may be worth exploring as part of a whole-body evaluation.

Factor 2 — Your Vertebrae

Back and spine dysfunction is one of the most commonly overlooked contributors to pelvic floor and bladder problems. The nerves that control bladder function originate in the lumbar and sacral spine — compression, restriction, or dysfunction at these levels can directly impair bladder control regardless of how strong your pelvic floor muscles are. This is why a thorough pelvic floor evaluation at Pelvicore always includes assessment of spinal and postural factors alongside pelvic floor function.

Factor 3 — Your Feet

This one surprises most people — but the fascial and muscular connections in the body run continuously from the feet through the legs and directly into the pelvic floor. Foot mechanics, ankle mobility, and lower leg tension all influence how load is distributed through the pelvis. Addressing restrictions in the feet and lower legs is sometimes the missing piece for patients who haven’t fully resolved bladder symptoms through pelvic floor work alone.

Bladder issues are rarely just a bladder problem. If you’ve been dealing with leaking, urgency, or bladder dysfunction without finding lasting relief, a comprehensive whole-body evaluation at Pelvicore may reveal what’s actually driving your symptoms.
