How to Avoid Common Breathing Mistakes

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and they appear to be short of breath just standing and talking, almost like the act of speaking is an exertion?

Some of my clients that are a bit more aware come to my office and say,

" I don't know how to breathe well.... Can you teach me?"

We can't live without breathing!

It's the #1 priority of our brain yet so many of use don't breathe efficiently.

The way we breathe effects every system in our body!

It has the ability to regulate our nervous system either helping us tap into the Parasympathetic nervous system , The Rest, Digest and Repair branch OR it can put us in Sympathetic overload,The Fight, Flight, Freeze branch.

When someone is hyperventilating.... what are they told to do?????

They are told to "Take a deep breath" in order to help rebalance the nervous system.

The way we breathe directly effects the pelvic floor muscles and thus directly effects bowel, bladder and sexual function.

YES...... Using compensatory patterns for breathing such Breath Holding or chest breathing ( Sound Familiar???? ...... So many of us do this without even realizing it!) can lead to leaking , pelvic organ prolapse, digestive issues, constipation, pelvic pain, incomplete evacuation, pain with sex, tailbone pain, hip and/or groin pain, inability to hold back gas or even fecal incontinence.
